Excellence has it's Own Rewards !

This happened on my 5th Wedding Anniversary !
We were at Jaipur & entered a restaurant for dinner
just as the lights went out ! Persons familiar with
India will smirk as this is "nothing unusual". But, what transpired in the next hour was Pure Magic
- Pristine and Delightful are words that understate
the experience !! Before we could find our way to a seating place, the
*Magician [*...an apt description; name kept secret]
appeared with a lantern to guide us to the private
cubicle in the back section of the place.
Out came two candles - lighting up the cozy confines,
but what was even more heartwarming was the "apology"
rendered as if it was his personal failing & we were
some V.I.P.s on a long expected visit. While the food was just passe, the service rendered
was Par Excellence [ having been employed & trained
in a 5-star facility, one is expected to distinguish
easily between different LEVELs ] and although there
was no complimentary cake on offer, the single rose
offered [ ...so obviously a personal gesture ] left
one nearly speechless !
The farewell was more touching than blood-relations
could ever offer and - it appeared so genuine, wife
remarked the guy should be in the movies !
Leaving a Healthy Tip [made one actually feel small]
in exchange of a Superlative Memory is the least one
could do .............
Considering that we have been married for 20 years -
and the store of memories spans across boundaries of
time as well as geography - the Excellence of those
few Magical Moments far outweighs many expensive or
costly gifts that may have come our way.
AND,
The smile that flashes across our face as we narrate
this incident ever so often - i think, says more than
words ever can !!

The author - a TRAINER in Customer Care [ one of many
modules ] - was so deeply moved, more so by the kid's
and wife's reactions that this incident is now a part of his
Training Classes.
Excellence does have it's own rewards !
